Il contributo discute nuovamente la datazione del Roland rimato e la colloca nell’ultimo ventennio del XII secolo, approssimativamente tra il 1180 e il 1190-1195. La nuova collocazione cronologica porta il testo in prossimità della presunta data dell’archetipo di Galien e della redazione conservataci del Ronsasvals. Entra quindi a far parte del nutrito gruppo di canzoni dell’epoca di Filippo II di Francia.

The paper reconsiders the dating of the Rhymed Roland, and places it in the last two decades of the 12th century, approximately between 1180 and 1190-1195. This new dating brings the text closer to the presumed date of Galien's archetype and to the surviving version of the Ronsasvals. It thus becomes part of the large group of songs from the era of Philip II of France.
